Darryl Norwin Mayeux, 85, of Lake Charles passed away at 11:24 PM on Sunday, October 20, 2024 in a local care facility.
Mr. Mayeux was born on August 24, 1939, in Ville Platte, LA, and spent much of his early life in the area before moving to Lake Charles. After graduating from Landry High School, he began working for his family in the car business before answering the call to serve his country in the United States Navy. He was honorably discharged after his service and returned to the car business before deciding to further his education at Sowela Technical Institute, where he earned a degree in electronics.
He spent much of his career in Southwest Louisiana, where he lived in various communities before ultimately making his home in Hot Springs, AR. In recent years, he chose to return to Lake Charles to be closer to his family.
Mr. Mayeux enjoyed watching the news to stay informed and he was passionate about financial markets and making investments.
Those left to cherish his memory are his nieces and nephews, Luther Louis Launey, Jr. (Cheryl), Joseph Launey (Kathy), Lydia Launey (Wendell), and Karen Bonnin (Chris); a family friend and caregiver, Mary Dargin; and numerous extended family, friends, and acquaintances.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Maddy and Ethel Mayeux; a step father, Dudley Rozas; and his sister, Barbara Launey (Luther Sr.).
An inurnment will be held at Prien Memorial Park at 10:30 AM on Wednesday, October 30, 2024 under the direction of Johnson Funeral home.
