Darsie Lee Gray Derouen, 89, of Lake Charles was greeted with open arms into Heaven, Tuesday, February 8, 2022 from a local healthcare facility.
Mrs. Derouen was born in Deweyville, TX and has lived most of her life in Lake Charles. She was a High School graduate and worked many years in the Classified Ads department of the Lake Charles American Press. During her younger years she was a member of a local bowling league and enjoyed competition bowling with her teams. She also enjoyed working in her flower gardens, spending time at their camp in Toledo Bend, traveling with her husband, camping with their group of travel friends, fishing and was an avid fan of watching all sports. Her greatest times were those shared with her children and grandchildren. A lady of faith, Mrs. Derouen was a devoted servant of the Church, a fifty-year member of Boulevard Baptist Church and for many years, an active member of St. Luke Simpson United Methodist Church where she served on numerous committees and was a regular volunteer for Manna Ministries Food Bank. She will be remembered as a lady of grace and faith, always well put together and ready for the day with a great love and devotion to the Lord and her family.
She leaves to cherish her memory, two sons, Garland Allan Derouen (Mary) and Thomas Steven Derouen; four grandchildren, Brandon Derouen (Kim), Paul Blevins (Carey), Ross Derouen (Danielle) and Jordan Derouen (Jada) and twelve great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband of sixty-seven years, Oland Derouen, Jr.; parents, George Aubrey Gray and Rose White Gray and one sister, Audrey Gray Bloxom.
Private Graveside services will be at Highland Memory Gardens under the direction of Johnson Funeral Home. Dr. John Robert Black will officiate.
