Daryl Craig Lambert, 68, of Lake Charles, LA, died at 12:45 AM on Monday, September 10, 2018 in a local care facility.
Craig enjoyed being a father, spending time with family, sweetheart, good friends, and his pets. He enjoyed working in his yard and attending CARC and Special Olympic events with his son and friends. He was a history enthusiast. He was noted for his laughter, good sense of humor, and caring nature.
Craig retired from Sam Houston Jones State Park, where he enjoyed working as a state park ranger. He was a member of the Louisiana Fraternal Order of Police – Lake Charles Lodge #8 and was a life member of the National Rifle Association.
Mr. Lambert is survived by his children, Jennifer P. Lambert-Khoury and Joel C. Lambert, children of Wanda Farnell Lambert; Barbara Johnson, his sweetheart of 29 years, of Ball, LA, cousins, Robert Lamar McDonald, Jr. and family of Denham Springs, LA, Judith A. Hyland and family of San Antonio, TX, Mary E. Anderson and family of Auburn Hills, MI, and James W. Haley, Jr. of San Antonio, TX; niece, Sasha Lambert Fogle of Lafayette, LA; Barbara’s family: her brother, Glen Melcher and family of Tioga, LA, sister, Dorthy Seibel and family of Slidell, LA, and Janell Gonzales and husband of Atlanta, LA; fur children, Molly and Mr. Muttley; and fur grandchildren, Dexter, Mina, Moon, and Hazel.
He was preceded in death by his father, Comas Dickerson Lambert, Jr of Beaumont, TX.; mother, Vera Hazel Haley Goss and her husband, Lee Roy Goss of Lake Charles; and half-brother, Carl Douglas Lambert of Lafayette, LA.
His funeral service will be held at 12:00 PM on Saturday, September 15, 2018 at the Johnson Funeral Home Chapel. June Tipton, Chaplain, will officiate. Burial will follow in Rosepine Cemetery in Rosepine, LA. Visitation will be at the funeral home on Saturday from 9:00 AM until the start of the service.
Pallbearers for the service will be Joel Lambert, Glen Melcher, Jason Melcher, Danny Mele, Patrick Mele, Ted Thibodeaux, and Jason Whitson. Honorary Pallbearers will be Tommy Davis, Charles Landrum, Trent Melcher, Herman Verkruissen, and Hubert Young.
In lieu of flowers, monetary donations to the family will be used for special CARC events that Craig supported or clothing and household goods can be donated to CARC Treasure Chest Thrift Store, 129 West McNeese Street.
The family would like to express a thank you to Dr. Thomas E. Lebeau, Dr. William B. Hart, Dr. Paul H. Nichols, Dr. Juan C. Teran, Dr. Cody M. Tingle, and Dr. Brian D. Clements, the staff of St. Patrick Hospital especially day surgery, radiology, and the transport departments, the staff of St. Patrick Home Health including the nurses and the physical therapists, George Cestia and staff at Home Instead Senior Care, Acadian Ambulance, and friends who gave continuous support.
The family would like to express a special thank you to all of the Grand Cove staff for all of his therapy and caring needs for him during his last few months. Also to all of the Brighten Bridge Hospice staff for everything that they have done for him and the family during his last days with us.
