David Adam Landry, Jr.

David Adam Landry, Jr, 79, of Lake Charles passed away at 7:31 AM on Sunday, June 16, 2024 in his residence.

Mr. Landry was born on September 10, 1944 in Lake Charles where he was a proud graduate of Lake Charles High School. He furthered his education at Sowela Technical Institute where he learned his skills in welding. His thirst for knowledge led him to attend trade school to become a proficient machinist. David embarked on a 42-year journey with PPG, where he served as a Maintenance Supervisor and applied his expertise as a machinist until his well-earned retirement.

During his career, he diligently operated Landry’s Repair during the evenings, specializing in outboard boat motors. He was not only committed to his work and family but also devoted to his faith as a member of Our Lady of Good Counsel Catholic Church.

An avid outdoorsman, David found immense joy in duck hunting and was an active member of Ducks Unlimited. His passion extended to fishing, a pastime that he also cherished. In his quieter moments, he indulged in the challenge of puzzles and the creativity of making stained glass.

Those left to cherish his memory are his loving and devoted wife of 61 years, Janelle Porche’ Landry; his children, Leslie Landry (Chris), Damon Landry (Donna), and Donald Landry (Tammy); brother, Jean Landry (Laurie); grandchildren, Devan Dronet, Taylor Morgan, Megan Koegelenberg (Gideon), Katelyn Horn (Chase), Nicholas Landry (Mallory), Morgan Blount, Grace Landry, Kim Katchur, Candace Devillier, and Austin Woods, and great grandchildren, Hillary and Connor Horn, baby Horn on the way, Kellen and Kason Katchur, Braylee Devillier, and Ava Rose Soileau.

He was preceded in death by his daughter, Denise Landry; parents, Dave and Millie Landry; and brothers, Ronald “Duke” and Danny Landry.

The family would like to thank Dr. Michael Broussard, Dr. Craig V. Broussard and Dr. Gary Kohler, as well as the wonderful nurses and staff at Lake Charles Memorial Hospital for taking such good care and being attentive to Mr. Landry.

A memorial service will be held at 11:30 PM on Friday, June 21, 2024 in the Johnson Funeral Home chapel.  Father Paul Jessen will officiate.  A gathering of family and friends will begin at 9:00 AM and continue until the start of the rosary at 11:00 AM.
