David Brian Usher

David B. Usher, age 62, passed away May 15, 2013.

David was a Senior Vice President of Business Development at Lake Charles Memorial Hospital and former Chief Operating Officer at Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital in Lafayette. He was a past member of the Lake Charles Rotary Club and Kids Can of Southwest Louisiana and Chamber of Commerce. David leaves behind his loving family and countless friends. He had so many God-given gifts. He had a way of making everyone he met feel special. He had a wonderful sense of humor and so much love to give.

David leaves behind his wife of 35 years, Marcia, his beloved daughter Allison Schnake and husband John. He also leaves behind his parents Floyd Usher and wife Betty of Ville Platte, and his mother Juanita Balliew of Lafayette.

David was so loved by his brother Jim Usher and wife Brenda of Baton Rouge and sister Debbie Guillory and husband Gardon of Lafayette, and sister-in-law Jenell Lee of Picayune, Mississippi. David also loved by his nieces and nephews. He attended so many of their special events and they adored their Uncle David. Left behind to cherish his memory are Shawn Usher and his wife Jennifer, Shelley Johnson and husband Scott, and his namesake, David Paul Usher of Baton Rouge as well as Alex and Jocelyn Guillory of Lafayette, and Mark Lee and Alisa Gollotte of Picayune, Mississippi.

David was a special Big Uncle David to his grand nieces and nephews. Left behind to cherish his memory are Sarah, Erin, and Emily Johnson; James, Mary Claire, Elizabeth, and Aimee Usher of Baton Rouge. Included are Ashley Miller, husband Christopher; Meagan Miller, Colan Miller and Bradley Gollette. David was a loving god parent to Shawn Usher, Debbie Guillory, and Amanda Fontenot.

Visitation will be from 12:30 to 2:30 at Johnson Funeral Home, Saturday May 18th with a memorial service to follow with Deacon Viau officiating. A special eulogy will be presented by David's life-long friends Ricky Fontenot of Lafayette and Marilyn McSwain.

Special thanks to Francis Ellmer and Teresa and Steve Schnake. Their assistance during this time was truly God-sent. David was such a special person, words cannot begin to describe how much David was and is loved. He will remain in our hearts forever.
