David Clark Guthrie

September 3, 1937 — October 12, 2011

David Clark Guthrie, 74, of Cameron died at 10:25 PM on Wednesday, October 12, 2011 at his residence.


Mr. Guthrie was born on September 3, 1937 in Morehead, NC and lived most of his life in Cameron until recently moving to Kinder. He served in the U.S. Army. Mr. Guthrie was a retired menhaden boat captain in Cameron before opening and operating The Guthrie Chateau. He was also a hot shot driver for Resource Transportation. Mr. Guthrie was a member of a Masonic Lodge in North Carolina.


Those left to cherish his memory are two daughters, Melissa Bignall of Moss Bluff and Elizabeth Robinson of Kinder; a special niece and close friend, Wendy Richard of Fenton; a brother, Willie Thomas Guthrie of Fernandina Beach, FL; three grandchildren, Dallen Stone, Zachery Bignall, and Callie Robinson; and a great grandchild, Brayden Stone.


He was preceded in death by his wife, Loreleen Guthrie and a sister, June Fulthur.


A memorial service will be held at 3:00 PM on Sunday, October 16, 2011 in the Johnson Funeral Home Chapel. The Rev. James Moore will officiate. Visitation will begin at 1:30 PM on Sunday and continue until the start of the service.
