David Daniel LaPorte, 47, of Moss Bluff, LA died at 2:02 PM on Sunday, December 2, 2012 in his residence.
Mr. LaPorte was born October 31, 1965 in Lake Charles and lived most of his adult life in Moss Bluff. He was a 1984 graduate of LaGrange High School and worked ten years for Crowley Maritime, where he worked his way up to Chief Mate. He worked the past fifteen years for Praxair, where he was the Senior Lead Technician. David was active with the Moss Bluff Youth Dixie League for a number of years when his two sons played. He was vice-president of the Spirit of the Nazarite Ministries. He enjoyed snow skiing and bringing his family on many cherished vacations. He will be remembered as a fun loving and witty man and will be missed dearly.
Mr. LaPorte is survived by his wife of twenty-four years, Denise LaPorte; sons, Devin and Derek LaPorte, all of Moss Bluff; parents, James and Mercedes LaPorte of Lake Charles; brother, Dwayne LaPorte; sisters, Pauline LaPorte and Theresa LaPorte Brooks and husband Jared; and nephew, Forrest Brooks.
His memorial service will be at 1:00 PM on Thursday, December 6, 2012 at the Johnson Funeral Home Chapel. Pastor Carl Richard and Denise LaPorte will officiate. Visitation will be at the funeral home on Thursday from 9:00 AM until the start of the service with a scripture service at 10:00 AM.
