David Edward Dishong, Sr., 59, of Lake Charles died on Friday, September 26, 2014 in a Houston hospital. Mr. Dishong was born on February 7, 1955 in Lake Charles where he was a lifelong resident. He was a 1973 graduate of LaGrange High School and attended McNeese State University and Sowela Technical Community College. Mr. Dishong worked at PPG (now Axiall) as a manufacturing supervisor since 1977. He was a faithful, active member of Friendship Baptist Church where he served as a Deacon and Treasurer and also taught teenage Sunday School classes. He enjoyed all activities that involved being outdoors including fishing, hunting, gardening, and softball as well as tending to his Satsuma trees. Those left to cherish his memory are his wife, Ellen Dougay Dishong of Lake Charles; two sons, David E. Dishong, Jr. and wife Donde of Lake Charles and Gerald Edwin Dishong and wife Monica of Carlyss; half sister, Loretta Landry and husband Rennell of Iowa; and seven grandchildren, Christina, Carolynn, Chloe, Cheryl, Ayden, Wyatt, and Rylie. He was preceded in death by his parents, Gay and Winnie Dishong and a brother, Matthew Andrepont. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM on Tuesday, September 30, 2014 at Friendship Baptist Church. His son, Rev. David E. Dishong, Jr. and Rev. Dale Nazworth will officiate. Burial will follow in the church cemetery under the direction of Johnson Funeral Home. Visitation will begin in the funeral home on Monday from 4:00 PM until 9:00 PM and will continue in the church on Tuesday from 9:00 AM until the start of the service.
