David Franklin Tilbury

October 27, 1933 — November 13, 2020

David Franklin Tilbury, 87, of Lake Charles passed away on Friday, November 13, 2020 in a Mandeville, LA care facility.

Mr. Tilbury was born on October 27, 1933 in Trinidad, British West Indies.  He moved to Lake Charles at a young age and resided here for all his life.  Mr. Tilbury graduated from LaGrange High School in 1954 and furthered his education at McNeese State University and graduated in 1959 with a Bachelor of Science in the Department of Physical Science.  He joined the Navy Reserve and was honorably discharged.  Mr. Tilbury worked for Conoco for almost 28 years and retired in 1989 as an operator.  He was a member of Christ the King Catholic Church.  JoJo and Granddaddy enjoyed their date night on Thursdays at Casa Manana.

Those left to cherish his memory are children, Cindy Fontenot (Keith) of Lake Charles and Paul Tilbury (Patti) of Iowa; sister, Toni Lippa of Conroe, TX; grandchildren, Lindsey Martin (Larry), Wesley Fontenot (Kate), and Paige and Preslie Tilbury; great grandchildren, Grant and Grady Martin.

He was preceded by his wife by exactly 5 weeks, Jo Ann “JoJo” Tilbury; parents, Paul and Leonie Tilbury; and sisters, Ruth Wright and Margaret Taylor.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, November 17, 2020 in the Johnson Funeral Home in Moss Bluff.  The Very Reverend Rojo A. Palatty Koonalhan will officiate.  Burial will follow in Highland Memory Garden Cemetery.  Visitation will begin on Tuesday from 9:30 AM until reciting the rosary at 10:30 AM.
