David Glen Prater, 66, of Lake Charles Louisiana passed away at 1:55 pm in Harbor Hospice of Lake Charles on February 1, 2021.
David was honorably discharged from the U.S. Marine Corps in 1973. He settled in Westlake in 1991 but worked in 38 states throughout the country over the course of his life, as a truck driver, offshore rigger, and as a pipeliner. He believed in Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior and in his last days he stated that what came next would be one more journey.
David lived by his own rules in many aspects of his life, but he had a heart of gold and loved his family with all of his heart. He enjoyed fishing, socializing with his friends and family, the occasional round of golf with is cousin, Richard Joe Prater, and was always up for a good time!
He is preceded in death by his mother Evelyn Thornton, father, John T. Prater, brother Kelly Ray May, as well as the love of his life Connie Ann Prater.
He is survived by his two sons Daron Prater of Carrollton GA, Ronald “Ronnie” Hardee Jr. of Lake Charles LA, and his daughter Amber Christ of Winnie Texas; Six grandchildren Dustin Prater, Kaylie Prater, and Kendall Prater all of Carrollton, GA. Ronnie Hardee III of Charlotte, NC, Casey Nelson of Moss Bluff, LA, and Hunter Perry of Winnie, TX. He is also survived by his brother John Travis Prater of Kennesaw, GA and his twin sister Dorothy Lynn Snead McCall of Westlake, LA; along with multiple nephews and nieces.
Due to covid-19, the family has decided to have a private, immediate family service. We know you will be with us in prayer.
