David Glenn Washburn

David Glenn Washburn, 67, of Lake Charles, LA, died on Thursday, September 24, 2020 in his residence.

Mr. Washburn was born August 3, 1953 in Lake Charles, LA, where he was a life-long resident.  He was a 1971 graduate of LaGrange High School and graduated from McNeese State University with his bachelor’s degree in business administration.  He was a member of Kappa Sigma and remained active with the McNeese Alumni throughout the years and was the Kappa Sig Alumni Advisor for a number of years.  Mr. Washburn worked for Midsouth Insurance for almost twenty years and was currently employed with McDonald and Associates, LLC for a number of years.  He was an Elder for First Presbyterian Church and volunteered with Habitat for Humanity for many years.  He was a past member of the Kiwanis Club, the Young Men’s Business Club, and participated in Christmas in April.  Mr. Washburn loved his family dearly, enjoyed his season McNeese football tickets, and took pride in the time spent on his yard and his home.

Mr. Washburn is survived by his wife of nineteen years, Carla Thompson Washburn of Lake Charles; son, Michael Washburn and wife Bridget of Olathe, KS; daughter, Sarah Washburn of Lake Charles; step-children, Jennifer Poole Naquin and husband Donald of Gray, LA, Robert Trigg White and wife Sara of Carlyss, LA, and Michael Travis White and wife Katy of San Antonio, TX; and grandchildren, Alice, Rosella, Makenzie, Thomas, Ethan, Madeline, Hayes, Ezra, Aubrey, and June.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Joyce and Mifflin Washburn, Jr.

His funeral service will be held at 10:00 AM on Tuesday, September 29, 2020 at University Baptist Church, under the direction of Johnson Funeral Home.  Rev. Chan Willis will officiate.  Burial will follow in Prien Memorial Park.  Visitation will be at the church on Monday from 5:00 PM to 7:30 PM and continue on Tuesday from 9:00 AM until the start of the service.
