David Joseph LaFleur, 94, passed away on Thursday, April 25, 2024, at his home in Choupique. He was born in Lafayette, LA, on March 25, 1930, then spent nine years in Rayne. His family moved to Sulphur in 1944 where he graduated from Sulphur High School in 1947.
David served his country in the U.S. Navy for 4 years during the Korean Conflict. He retired from PPG in 1990 after 39 years of service.
He was a member of St. Theresa Catholic Church and served in many ministries. Over the years, he served as a parish lector, a council member, Eucharistic Minister, and was a member of the Legion of Mary. David was one of the founding parishioners of St. Theresa’s Church when it was just a mission of Our Lady of Prompt Succor. He was also a member of the K of C Council #8058.
David was preceded in death by his wife of 48 years, Lois Blair LaFleur; his parents, Gabriel and Agnes LaFleur; and brothers, Jerry and Ben LaFleur. Left to share his memory are his four children, James (Jane) LaFleur, Ann (Spencer) Anderson, Jeffery (Debbie) LaFleur and Beth (Edmond) Trahan; 11 grandchildren, Leslie (Ernie) Petross, Kara (Andy) LaFleur, Casey (Ginny) Anderson, Laura (Kelly) Smith, Gabriel (Jada) Anderson, Jessica (Anthony) Basile, Jason LaFleur, Kelly (Alex) LaFleur, Matthew (Camryn) LaFleur, Chrstopher LaFleur, and Cody (Franki) Ziegler; 25 great grandchildren; brothers, Ray (Margie) LaFleur, Tom LaFleur, and John (Linda) LaFleur; and numerous nieces and nephews.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, April 30, 2024, at 10:30 AM at St. Theresa Catholic Church with Father Raymond Cadran, M.S. officiating. Burial will follow at Mimosa Pines Cemetery in Carlyss. The family will receive friends on Monday, April 29, 2024, at Johnson and Robison Funeral Home from 4-8 PM with a rosary recited at 6 PM. Visitation will resume on Tuesday from 8 AM until time to leave for the church.
