David Wayne Gregory, 55, of Lake Charles, Louisiana, passed away Tuesday April 12, 2016 in his residence.
David was born in Mansfield, Louisiana on June 28, 1960. He moved to Sulphur at age 2, then to Lake Charles at age 4, where he spent most of his life.
In middle school, David won numerous singing competitions, and in high school, he was ranked in the state for tennis. He was a 1978 graduate of Barbe High School.
He was offered a tennis scholarship to West Point, but he decided to attend LSU. While at LSU, David was a member of SAE Fraternity.
David loved all sports, especially watching the LSU Tigers. He loved to hunt, and he was known to wake up before school to go duck hunting, come home to change, then go to school. He enjoyed cooking for his family and friends, and he really enjoyed reading – everything from the Bible to books on conspiracy theories, history books, and cookbooks.
David worked with Louisiana Mortgage Associates for the last 7 years, and he loved his job and his fellow coworkers.
David was preceded in death by his mother Diana Clara Fellows (who he adored) and his father Hugh Douglas Gregory.
Those left to cherish his memories include his sister Gaye Charles and husband Louis, his brother Buck Fellows and wife Mary, his nieces and nephews – Julie, Charles, John, Diana, Annie, and Steele – as well as his many good friends who were there for him no matter what.
David will truly be missed by his family and friends. He could always make us laugh. There was no one like him, and we were all blessed to have had him in our lives.
Cremation has been entrusted to Johnson Funeral Home. A private family graveside memorial will be Friday May 6, 2016 at Consolata Cemetery. Family and friends will gather later for a celebration of David’s life.
