David Wayne Gunter, 62, passed away on Friday, February 14, 2014. David was born on May 15, 1951 in Alexandria, Louisiana to Dave and Blanche Gunter. David was raised in Sulphur. David was a welder for about 44 years and was at W.R. Grace for the last 23 years. David was a member of the Local 106 for 44 years. David was preparing for his retirement on the river with his many friends. David loved spending time and doing various projects with his brother Gary. He loved motorcycles and fixing old cars with Charles Cuz Stuckey. He coached baseball with the Dixie Youth Organization for 22 years in Sulphur. David also loved to attend his grandchildrens sporting events. David is survived by his three sons, Jason (Jessica) Gunter, Jack (Rachel) Gunter, and Cole Gunter; his companion, Jodi Roy; grandchildren, Lexi, Brooklyn, Gabby, William, Presley, Sianna, Jesse, Mackenzie, Jackson, and Cody; brother, Gary (Karen) Gunter; sister, Barbara (Melvin) Bryant; and numerous nieces and nephews. David was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Ricky Gunter; son, Joe David Gunter; and grandson, Samuel David Gunter. The family will receive friends on Monday, February 17, 2014 from 3-9 PM at Johnson and Robison Funeral Home with a Cursillo rosary at 7 pm by Mitch Martin in the chapel and Tuesday from 8 am til the time of service. The service will be Tuesday, February 18, 2014 at 10 am at Johnson and Robison Funeral Home Chapel with Deacon Johnny Mounce officiating. Burial will follow in Martin Family Cemetery.
