David Wayne Marlin

David Wayne Marlin, 56, of Sulphur passed away on Friday, November 14, after bravely battling kidney and heart disease for many years. He was born on July 16, 1958 in Youngstown, OH, where he lived until he joined the U S Navy. He moved to the Lake Charles area in 1980 after serving his Navy term. David received his B.A. Degree in Criminal Justice from McNeese in 1991. He worked for Entergy, enjoyed cooking, motorcycles, and doing projects for his family. He was a Master Mason of Sulphur Lodge 424, and a Deacon for Houston River Baptist Church. David loved being around his family and friends and will be greatly missed by all who knew him. David is survived by his wife of 28 years, Theresa Girlinghouse Marlin of Sulphur; 2 sons, Marc and Matthew Marlin both of Sulphur; a daughter, Danielle Marlin; 2 brothers, Scott Marlin of Boardman, OH and Chris Marlin of South Park, PA. He was preceded in death by his parents, Gary and Caroline Marlin. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, November 20, 2014 at 10 A.M. at Houston River Baptist Church in Sulphur with Rev. Lonnie Gothrup officiating. Burial will be in Highland Memorial Cemetery in Lake Charles under the direction of Johnson and Robison Funeral Home. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, November 19, 2014 from 3-8 P.M. at the funeral home. The visitation will continue on Thursday at the church from 8 till time of the service.
