Deacon Jack Reynolds, 78, of Moss Bluff passed away Wednesday, September 18, 2013 in the comfort of his home. Born in Lansing, MI to Raymond Edward Reynolds and Reba Elizabeth Mercer Reynolds, Deacon Reynolds was raised in Muncie, IN, and lived most of his life in the Lake Charles area. He served his country from 1952-1956 in the United States Air Force, stationed at the Lake Charles Base, during which time he met his wife, Amy Peet Reynolds. Upon Deacon Reynolds' departure from the Air Force, he joined the Lake Charles Fire Department, retiring after twenty years of service in 1978 as Chief of the Fire Prevention Bureau. Deacon Reynolds was a member and past President of the Southwest LA Umpires Association, allowing him the opportunity to umpire throughout SWLA with Little League, Babe Ruth League and American Legion Baseball. He counted as his great honor and privilege the opportunity of serving His Heavenly Father and community as a Deacon at St. Theodore Catholic Church from 1978 until 2013. He was faithful to his calling for thirty-six years. He leaves to cherish his memory his loving wife of fifty-seven years, Amy Peet Reynolds of Moss Bluff; two sons, Michael Reynolds and wife Tammy of Moss Bluff and Phillip Reynolds and wife Stephanie of Lake Charles; one daughter, Cynthia Robbins and husband Kevin of Moss Bluff; one daughter-in-law, Denise Reynolds of New Mexico; ten grandchildren, Tiffani Serrano, Marie Moon, David Reynolds, Jack Reynolds, Blake Reynolds, Amy Reeves, Tabitha Davis, Peet Reynolds, Kathryn Glaub, and Clint Robbins; six great-grandchildren; two brothers, Raymond Reynolds of Ocean Springs, MS and Warren Reynolds of Moss Bluff; two sisters, Rose Dudley and Nancy Jones, both of Muncie, IN; and many nieces, nephews and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents and one beloved son, Raymond Emerson Reynolds. A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10 AM Saturday, September 21, 2013 at St. Theodore Catholic Church. Monsignor Charles Dubois will officiate. Interment will follow in Consolata Cemetery. Visitation Friday will be from 5 PM until 9 PM, with a Liturgy of the Hours beginning at 6:30 PM, followed by a Cursillo rosary at 7 PM at the funeral home. Visitation Saturday will be from 8 AM until the time of service in the church. Pallbearers will be Ralph Reynolds, Blake Reynolds, Peet Reynolds, David Reynolds, Clint Robbins and Kevin Robbins. Honorary pallbearers will be the Cajun Horseshoe Pitchers and Lake Charles City Firemen. The family would like to express their grateful appreciation for the compassionate care given their beloved husband and father to Dr. Ron Lewis and the excellent staff of Heart of Hospice.
