Deana Broussard Mallett, 45, of Lake Charles died at 4:00 PM on Monday, October 28, 2013 in her residence. Mrs. Mallett was born on January 24, 1968 in Lake Charles, LA and was a 1986 graduate of Barbe High School. She received two bachelor degrees from McNeese State University in criminal justice and nursing. While attending McNeese, Deana was active as a Cowgirl Kicker, in the Phi Mu Sorority and Sigma Theta Tau and was voted Spring Court Queen as well as having been a part of the Homecoming Court. Deana also had great achievements such as being named "Who's Who" and being an honor graduate in the nursing department. She then furthered her education at Charity/Xavier University in New Orleans receiving a Master's of Science in Nurse Anesthesiology where she was an honor graduate. She had a passion and love for music, dance, and always enjoyed going to the movies. Her pride and love was set on her two little angelsGabriel and Chandler. She was very much loved and will be missed by all who knew her. Deana was beautiful, quick witted, and a loyal friend to many. Those left to cherish her memory are husband, Carl Mallett; children, Chandler Claire and Gabriel Thomas; parents, Thomas and DeAnna Broussard; sister, Shelly and husband Dr. Timothy Gilbert; nieces, Presley and Aubrey; grandmother, Bea Hebert; mother-in-law, Myrtle Mallett of Jennings; brothers-in-law, Brian Mallett and wife Paula of Jennings and John Mallett and wife Debbie of Lake Charles; sister-in-law, Dionne Robicheaux and husband Rick of Jennings; numerous nieces, nephews, aunts, and uncles; and her two best friends, Jamie Daniels and Debbie Poole-LaBove. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Avery Kate Mallett; father-in-law, Gabe Mallett; grandparents, Amy and Wesley Reed and Harry Broussard, Sr.; her beloved Godfather, Don Reed; and her uncle, Harry Broussard, Jr. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, November 2, 2013 at the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception. Monsignor Jace Eskind will officiate. Burial will follow in Consolata Cemetery under the direction of Johnson Funeral Home. Visitation will begin on Friday from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM with a rosary being recited at 6:00 PM. Visitation will continue in the funeral home on Saturday from 8:00 AM until 10:30 AM. Serving as pallbearers will be: Dr. Timothy Gilbert, Chris Daniels, Dr. Michael Brown, John Mallett, Brian Mallett, and Craig Boudreaux.
