Deanna Rita Sharp, 84, of Lake Charles, started her journey to Heaven at 2:07 AM on Thursday, June 20, 2024 in a local care facility surrounded by her three loving children.
Mrs. Sharp’s early career was marked by her commitment to the Fair Store, where she served diligently for many years. Yet, her true passion lay in caring for others, which inspired her to further her education and achieve degrees as both an LPN and a phlebotomist.
An adventurous spirit, Mrs. Sharp shared many memorable journeys with her beloved husband, Bill. Together, they explored the beauty of the United States, from the sweeping landscapes of Alaska to the picturesque shores of Nova Scotia. Their travels also took them across the Atlantic to Scotland and England, where they forged cherished memories with the extended Sharp family on their many adventures to Scotland.
In her leisure time, Mrs. Sharp found immense joy in the company of her dear friends, lovingly known as her “Booray buddies.” Annie, Deb, Linda, Roxie, and their companions filled her days with laughter and camaraderie, creating moments that she cherished dearly.
The family extends heartfelt gratitude to the compassionate staff of Resthaven Nursing Home and Brighton Bridge Hospice for their exceptional care and support during Mrs. Sharp’s final days.
Those left to cherish her memories are her sister, Janice Savoy of Lafayette; sisters-in-law, Bertha Peet and husband, Norman, of Moss Bluff and Earline Savoy of Lafayette; children, Vicki Fontenot LaFleur and her husband, Bobby, of Moss Bluff, Sherry Sutherland and husband, Roger, of Moss Bluff, and Scott Fontenot of Carencro; grandchildren, Christian Zimmerman, Jason Sutherland, Summer Washington, Krystal Sutherland Briley, and Scott Fontenot; thirteen great grandchildren; one great great grandchild; bonus children, Sue Dela Rosas, David Sharp, Andrew Sharp and his wife, Carolyn, Danny Sharp and his wife, Annette, and Melinda Sharp; bonus grandchildren, Clinton Sharp, Stewart Sharp, Duncan Sharp, and Christopher Dela Rosas; seven bonus great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by parents, Clyde and Viney Savoy; her husband, William “Bill” Sharp; brothers, Charlie and Dwight Savoy; and the father of her children, Lionel Fontenot.
A funeral service will be held at 1:00 PM on Monday, June 24, 2024 in the Johnson Funeral Home chapel. Father Josh Page will officiate. Burial will follow in Highland Memory Gardens Cemetery. Visitation will begin at 10:00 AM until the start of the rosary at 12:30 PM followed by the service.
