Debbie Mcdaniel Berkey

Debbie McDaniel Berkey, 51, of Lake Charles entered into rest Sunday, November 27, 2011 from the comfort of her home.

Mrs. Berkey lived most of her life in Lake Charles. She attended South Cameron High School and attained her license in Office Occupations from Sowela Technical Institute, having proceeded to work in many clerical positions throughout the local area. She enjoyed arts and crafts and candy making, especially for the Christmas holiday. Mrs. Berkey was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother as her greatest times were those shared with her family.

She leaves to cherish her memory, her loving husband of ten years, Lester E. Berkey of Lake Charles; three daughters, Nerissa Forgette and husband Scott of DeRidder, Jennifer Dixon of Vinton and Natasha "Tootie" McDaniel and fiance' LaMont Dodd of Lake Charles; three step-children, Steven Berkey and wife Kelly of LeBleu Settlement and Trixie Berkey and Clayton Berkey, both of Mena, AR; twenty grandchildren; one great-grandchild; two brothers, Terry McDaniel of Hayes and Christopher Gardner of Sulphur; two sisters, Audrey Trahan of Lake Charles and Vickie Hebert of Sulphur; her oldest and dearest friend, Carlissa Sexton of Starks and her "adopted son", Jason Trahan of Lake Charles.

She was preceded in death by her parents, LeRoy McDaniel and Mary Gardner Desormeaux and one brother, Johnny McDaniel.

Funeral services will be at 11:00 AM Thursday, December 1, 2011 in the Johnson Funeral Home Chapel. Rev. David Dewitt will officiate. Visitation Wednesday will be from 11:00 AM until 10:00 PM and will continue Thursday from 8:00 AM until the time of service in the funeral home.
