Debra Jean Cushing Ross

Debra Jean Cushing Ross, 63, died Wednesday, April 25, 2018 in the comfort of her home in Sugartown, surrounded by her family.

Mrs. Ross was born in Dearborn, MI, and lived most of her life in the Lake Charles area. She was a graduate of Sam Houston High School. She devoted her life and her love to raising her family. She was a talented seamstress, having sewn for her children, grandchildren, family friends, clientele and many Mardi Gras events. She loved playing pool as a member of the BCA League, country music and dancing. A lady of grace, she was always well dressed, made up and proud of her beautiful red hair. Mrs. Ross will be most remembered for her smile, her positive influence, guidance and the joy she found in seeing those around her happy.

She leaves to cherish her memory, three sons, Chad Everette Ross and wife Tara of Iowa, David Wayne Ross of Lake Charles and Kenneth Troy Ross and wife Lori of Grand Lake and her fiancé, Anthony Tony Ledano of Sugartown; seven grandchildren, Ragen Ross, Kristin Ross, Allison Ross, Jaden Ross, John Paul Ross, Korben Ross and Bryson Ross; daughter-in-law, Shaundell Powell; step-daughter, Kimberly Johnson, and step-grandchildren, Kelby George and Kyler George; one brother, Bill Cushing of Dequincy and four sisters, Kathy Kile and husband Mike of Moss Bluff, Susan Rigler of Dequincy, Pam Martin of Missouri and Rhonda Miller and husband Darrell of Kinder. She also leaves her three “baby dogs”, Sparky, Sissy and Lil Girl.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 23 years, Johnny Ross; granddaughter, Haley Jean Ross; parents, Gene and Robbie Cushing and sister, Donna DeBarge.

Funeral services will be at 1:00 PM Monday, April 30, 2018 in the Johnson Funeral Home Chapel.  Reverend Tony Bourque will officiate.  Interment will follow in Black Bayou Cemetery. Visitation Monday will be from 10:00 AM until the time of service in the funeral home.
