Dee Etta Van Cleave Houston Salvador, 85, of Lake Charles, LA, passed away at 5:00 PM on Monday, March 15, 2021 in a local hospital.
Mrs. Salvador was born September 3, 1935 in Bastrop, LA and was a graduate of Ouachita High School in Monroe, LA, where she was named “Most Beautiful”. She retired from the Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office, where she worked as secretary under Ham Reid and Wayne McEleveen. She was a member of Trinity Baptist Church in Sulphur. She loved to travel and spend time in her yard.
Mrs. Salvador is survived by her daughter, Deborah Mouhot of Lake Charles; sons, Randy Houston and wife Linda of Germany, Jerry Houston and wife Amie of Lake Charles, and Bruce Houston and wife Ann of Sulphur, LA; step-sons, David Salvador and wife Cammy of Houston, TX, Dean Salvador and wife Miron of Pearland, TX, Vince Salvador and wife Audry of Sulphur, LA and Vic Salvador and wife Cinnamon of Lake Charles; sisters, Leta McNair of Columbus, GA, and Myra Preston of Jonesboro, AR; brothers, Reggie Van Cleave and wife Rosie of Los Angeles, CA and Mark Van Cleave and wife Kris of Kalamazoo, MI; eighteen grandchildren; and thirteen great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband of nineteen years, Renalds Dean “Sal” Salvador; parents, Chesley and Valerie Van Cleave; infant brother, Charles Van Cleave; and a great-grandchild, Alaiya Stewart.
Her funeral service will be held at 1:00 PM on Saturday, March 20, 2021 at University Baptist Church. Jerry Brag will officiate. Burial will follow in Highland Memory Gardens, under the direction of Johnson Funeral Home. Visitation will be at the church on Saturday from 11:00 AM until the start of the service.
