Delores Janise Fontenot

Delores Marie Janise Fontenot, 79, of Lake Charles passed away Wednesday, February 11, 2015. Mrs. Fontenot was a lifelong resident of Lake Charles. She was a graduate of Marion High School and at the age of 20 began her journey in the Accounting Office at McNeese State University. She thoroughly loved her job and the countless friends she made through the years. She especially enjoyed the time she shared at break time, lunch and walking with her friends that extended far beyond the office. Mrs. Fontenot was looking forward to her 60 year anniversary party in June. She also enjoyed sewing, crocheting, cooking. Her favorite past time was baking and shopping with her granddaughters. Mrs. Fontenot was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and friend. She will be greatly missed by many. She leaves to cherish her memory, three children, Velda F. Vitello and husband Keith of Lake Charles; Dwayne Fontenot of Lafayette and Sheryl Fontenot of Lake Charles; two grandchildren, Angela Vitello and Pfalyn Fontenot of Lake Charles; one great-grandson, Kaleb Rodgers of Lake Charles; one brother, J.D. Janise of Lafayette and two sisters, Nettie Goodman of Moss Bluff and Joyce Jessen of Sulphur. She also leaves her extended family and dear friends at MSU. She was preceded by her husband of forty-five years, Roland L. Fontenot; grandson, Adam K. Vitello; parents, Pete and Palmier Derouen Janise and five brothers, Allen, Alton, Evan, Wilbert and James Janise. Funeral services will be at 11:00 AM Saturday February 14, 2015 in the Johnson Funeral Home Chapel. Father Jeffrey Starkovich will officiate. Interment will follow at Consolata Cemetery. Visitation Friday will be from 3:00 PM until 9:00 PM with a rosary service beginning at 6:30PM. Visitation Saturday will be from 8:00 AM until the time of service in the funeral home.
