Delores Jewel Williams Lanier, 76, of Corpus Christi, TX passed away Saturday, April 5, 2015 in her sister's Lake Charles residence. Mrs. Lanier was born August 31, 1938 in Gonzales and was raised in Sulphur where she was a 1956 graduate of Sulphur High School and also attended her father's church, Faith Temple. Mrs. Lanier earned her beauticians license and practiced for a year before choosing to be a dedicated stay at home mom and wife. She was honored as the Chairman of the Christian Women's Club in 1989. They belonged to Westlake Assembly of God before moving to Corpus Christi in 1991 where they were dedicated members of Trinity Worship Center. Her passion was praise and worship singing. She expanded that talent to Sweet Adeline Chorus from Baton Rouge, LA to Corpus Christi, TX for 43 years. She designed and made the chorus costumes. She now sings and worships Jesus with billions of others. She met Douglas Earl Lanier in 1956 and became Mrs. Douglas E. Lanier on January 30, 1958. She is survived by her husband of 57 years and 2 months; three daughters, Cynthia Ann Lanier, Melanie D. Henson, and Stephanie Dawn Fontenot; a sister, Jackie Partin; a brother; James Williams; six grandchildren; and four great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, Bessie and Curtis Williams. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM on Wednesday, April 8, 2015 in the Johnson Funeral Home Chapel. The Rev. David Kelly, Rev. James Fields, and Rev. W.H. Yarborough will officiate. Burial will follow in Consolata Cemetery. Visitation will begin on Wednesday from 10:00 AM until the start of the service. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations may be made to them for outstanding expenses.
