Delores Rogers Day

Delores Rogers Day, 79, of Lake Charles passed away at 11:07 PM on Saturday, August 5, 2023 in a local hospice facility.

Mrs. Day was born on January 4, 1944 in Manchester, LA and lived most of her life in the Lake Charles/Sulphur area.  She was the owner and operator of The Shag Beauty Shop in Sulphur for many years.  Mrs. Day was a member of Trinity Baptist Church.  For the last year, she was an enthusiastic resident at the Gardens Assisted Living facility.  She loved being there, playing bingo, and made many friends while there.

Those left to cherish her memory are her daughters, Carol Kalna (Kenneth) of Georgetown, IN and Trina McDaniel of Sulphur; stepchildren, Trent Day (Rhonda) of Midland, TX and Laura Wells of Charolette, NC; siblings, Isaac Rogers, Jr. of Baton Rouge, and Bonnie Doucet, Ruby Derouen, and Dorothy Worley all of Lake Charles; grandchildren, Sarah Kalna, Brandan McDaniel, Matthew, Hunter, and Katie Day, and Courtney Ford; and eight great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Larry Day; parents, Vivian and Isaac Rogers; and siblings, Jimmy and Wayne Rogers.

Funeral services will be held at 2:30 PM on Wednesday, August 9, 2023 in the Johnson Funeral Home chapel.  The Rev. Steve Shirley will officiate.  Burial will follow in Prien Memorial Park.  Visitation will begin at 10:00 AM and continue until the start of the service.
