Delton Joseph (DJ) Menard, 95, of Sulphur passed away on Monday, August 2, 2021, in his home with his family at his side.
Delton was a proud Veteran of the United States Army serving 32 months in World War II. He was an Operator Shift Supervisor with Citgo Oil Company retiring after 34 years. Delton was a member of Our Lady of Prompt Succor Catholic Church. He enjoyed gardening and sharing life experience stories; but family was most important: he cherished every moment they spent together. He will be remembered for his legacy of faith and family: one that he inspired in the generations to follow.
Left to cherish his memory are three sons: Leland Menard (Beverly), Sherill Menard (Nancy), Darren Menard (Beth); four daughters: Charlotte Broussard (Wayne), Janis Tolbert (Tommy), Susan Foote (Craig) and Donna Prejean (Jeff); and two daughters-in-law: Katrina Guidry and Sue Menard; 27 grandchildren, 70 great grandchildren, four great-great grandchildren with one on the way; two sisters: Dean Trahan (Denery) and Sherilyn Cormier.
He was preceded in death by: his wife of 61 years, Della Mae Hebert Menard; parents, Beliziar and Deniage Menard; two sons: Carl Menard and Brady Menard; four grandchildren: James Wayne Broussard, Russell (Rusty) Joseph Foote, Johnna Jolene Menard Fontenot and Laci Denise Menard Guidry; three great grandchildren: Gabrielle Sullivan Menard, Matthew Paul Menard and Leila Faith Chandler; four brothers: Cedric Menard (Agnes), Phil Menard (Georgie), Marshall Menard (Delores), James (Goldman) Menard (Joy Faye); two sisters: Merley Forestier (Austin), Doris LeBlanc (Billy); and brother-in-law, Sidney Cormier.
The family will hold a private graveside service at a later date at Mimosa Pines Cemetery in Carlyss. Pallbearers will be his grandsons.
The family wishes to express a special “Thank You” to Dr. Kevin Schlamp; social worker, Angie Meche; personal nurse, Jennifer Hoffpauir with Amedisys Home Health; and caregivers: Cheryl Johnson and Maudrey Gaspard, for providing such special and compassionate care to their father.
