Dempsey Gerald Jackson, 78, of Moss Bluff passed away Thursday, October 08, 2015 in the comfort of his home. Mr. Jackson was a native of Ragley, LA and has lived most of his life in Moss Bluff. He was a graduate of Ragley High and served the United States Navy. Mr. Jackson retired with twenty five years as a Carpenter for PPG Industries. He was a member of the International Association of Machinist and Aerospace Workers #470, was a Past Master of Masonic Lodge #238 Magnolia Ragley and member of Order of Eastern Star #232. Mr. Jackson enjoyed traveling, camping with his family and the Masonic camping group, and wood working. His latest treasure was a cedar chest crafted for his granddaughter. His greatest times were spent with his family, his greatest joy was his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was a member of Christian World Ministries. He leaves to honor his memory, his loving wife of fifty-six years, Mary Myers Jackson; one son, Dean Jackson and one son-in-law, Ralph Midkiff, all of Moss Bluff; four grandchildren, Dusty Lambert and wife Tela of Westlake, Staff Sergeant Amanda Nicole Jackson of Panama City, FL, Jody Dean Jackson of Houston, TX and LaTosha Brune of Moss Bluff; four great-grandchildren, Tanner, Xander and Lilly Lambert and Bentley Brune; one sister, Wanda Martin and husband John of Lake Charles and many nieces, nephews and dear friends. He was preceded in death by his daughter, LaDonna Gayle Midkiff; parents, Frederick and Lula Jackson; three brothers and one sister. Funeral services will be at 2:00 PM Sunday, October 11, 2015 in the Johnson Funeral Home Chapel. Reverend Jerry Snider will officiate. Interment will follow in Magnolia Cemetery in Ragley, LA. Visitation Saturday will be from 5:00 PM until 9:00 PM with a Masonic Rite service beginning at 7:00 PM. Visitation Sunday will be from 10:00 AM until the time of service in the funeral home. Mr. Jackson's family wishes to express heartfelt gratitude to the nurses and staff of Harbor Hospice for their excellence in care and compassion during this difficult time.
