Dennis M. Denson, Jr.

TSGT, Dennis M. Denson, Jr., USAF, Ret., 85, of Lake Charles went to be with our Lord and Savior, October 16, 2015 in the comfort of the Southwest Louisiana War Veterans Home in Jennings, LA. TSGT, Denson was a native of Petersburg, VA, and has lived in Lake Charles since 1996. He was a High School graduate with three years of College education. He proudly served the United States Air Force during the Korean and Vietnam Conflicts and saw countless places while stationed around the world. He retired with nearly twenty-two years of service. He was a member of the Air Force Sergeant Association and the Disabled American Veterans. TSGT, Denson also retired with over twenty years as a Vocational teacher; twelve years in Louisiana and seven years in Virginia. He was a member of Louisiana Teacher's Association. Mr. Denson was an honorable man with a great love and devotion to both his family and his country. TSGT, Denson was of Methodist faith. "He will be greatly missed and we know that we will be reunited one day in the glorious kingdom of Heaven". He leaves to honor his memory, his loving wife of thirty-two years, Nyoka VanCooney Denson of Lake Charles; two daughters, Donna Harper and husband Wade of Lake Charles and Darnell Duhon and husband Bennett of Lake Arthur; four grandchildren, Shane Legé, Sabrina LaComb, Amanda Sheely and Barton Legé; nine great-grandchildren and one sister, Norma Kilpatrick of Petersburg, VA. He was preceded in death by his parents, Dennis and Ruth Faison Denson; one brother, Garland Denson and two sisters, Lillian Bridgeman and Jean Hutchinson. Funeral services will be at 2:00 PM Monday, October 19, 2015 in the Johnson Funeral Home Chapel. Reverend LaMarylis Cotten will officiate. Military Honor services will follow at Consolata Cemetery. Visitation Sunday will be from 3:00 PM until 9:00 PM and will continue Monday from 10:00 AM until the time of service in the funeral home.
