Denzil Neal Cooper, 80 of Sulphur, passed away on March 4, 2012 in his residence. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, March 17, 2012 at 12 p.m. at Robison Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Steve Shirley officiating. The family will receive friends on Saturday, March 17, 2012 at the funeral home from 10a.m. until time of service. Denzil was a native of Ponca City, OK and a longtime resident of Sulphur. After graduating from Sulphur High School he attended McNeese University. He then served in the US Army during the Korean War. After the war, Denzil attended LSU for two years. After college he worked for the US Postal Service, and then worked for Himont until retiring after 32 years. He officiated for the Calcasieu Football Association for 15 years. Later he was an active McNeese Booster Club Member and volunteered for Habitat for Humanity for a number of years. Denzil is survived by his wife, Sabra Cooper of 51 years of Kennesaw, GA; two sons, Andrew Cooper of Sulphur and Brian Cooper of San Diego, CA; two sisters, Clyda Guidry and husband, L P of Carlyss and Dixie Sue Savoie of Orange, TX; two brothers, Donald Cooper and wife, Barbara of Dover, DE, and Larry Cooper of Orange, TX; one grandchild, Christopher Cooper of San Diego, CA; one great grandchild, Cillian Cooper of San Diego, CA; and numerous nieces and nephews.
