Deulah Rita Fruge Chatagnier

August 8, 1927 — May 8, 2013

Deulah Rita Fruge Chatagnier, 85, of Lake Charles, passed away Wednesday, May 08, 2013 in the comfort of her home, surrounded by family.


Mrs. Chatagnier was born in Lacassine and lived all her life in the Iowa and Lake Charles areas. She was a 1944 graduate of Iowa High School. She was a member of St. Raphael Catholic Church, and avid member of the church choir, a Charter member of Catholic Daughters Council #1377 where she was bestowed the honor of Catholic Daughter of the year in 1988, a member of the Ladies Auxiliary and was formerly Secretary of the Iowa AARP. An avid reader, she loved reading to her children and grandchildren. She also enjoyed cleaning thorough and cooking, especially for Sunday family gatherings. Mrs. Chatagnier took great pride in her family, having devoted her life to being a loving wife mother, grandmother and sister. She will be most remembered as the best ever.


She leaves to cherish her memory, four daughters, Deborah Augustine and husband Edwin Boogie of Hackberry; Freida Villnerve and husband Lester J. of Lake Charles; Jocelyn Chatagnier and husband SFC, (US Army Retired), Aaron Sheppard of Denver, CO and Tina LeBlanc and husband Tony of Lafayette; one sister, Beulah Hebert of Lake Charles; six grandchildren, Heather Guillory, Jessica McGee, Sara Augustine, Caleb Villnerve, Jillian Granger and Jordan LeBlanc and nine great-grandchildren, Tanner, Aiden, Addyson, Cooper, Katelyn, Harley, Jax, Branson and Payton.


She was preceded in death by her husband Joseph Ozema Chatagnier; parents, Ursin and Marie Elina Fruge; three brothers, Bruce Fruge, Burke Fruge and Coleman Fruge and three sisters, Lily Moses, Ellie Manuel and Lessie McDaniel.


The family of Mrs. Chatagnier, wishes to extend special thanks to Pamela Bordelon, Melanie Sweatt, Amanda Self, Margaret Lafanette and the staff of Southern Hospice for their excellence in care and compassion.


Funeral services will be at 10:30 AM Saturday, May 18, 2013 at St. Raphael Catholic Church under the direction of Johnson Funeral Home. Father Roland Vaughn will officiate. Interment will be a private in Lacassine Cemetery. Visitation Saturday will be from 8:00 AM until 9:45 AM in the funeral home.
