Dewey Noah Fontenot, 88, of Lake Charles passed away at 4:50 PM on Friday, August 24, 2018 in a Houston hospital.
Mr. Fontenot was born on February 11, 1930 in Ville Platte and lived most of his life in Lake Charles. He was a graduate of Chataignier High School before joining the US Army. Mr. Fontenot served in the Korean Conflict as a Sergeant in the 332nd Division as a Tank Commander and Trainer. He later retired from Northrop Grumman as a supervisor. Mr. Fontenot was a member of Our Lady Queen of Heaven Catholic Church where he served as an Usher for 50 years.
He enjoyed reading, especially his Bible, and watching military documentaries as well as visiting old plantation homes. Mr. Fontenot could often be found reciting the Rosary.
Those left to cherish his memory are children, Chuck Fontenot (Donna) of Lake Charles, James Fontenot (Regina) of Moss Bluff, Margaret Fontenot, Dorothy Fontenot, and Jacob Fontenot (Erin Barker) all of Lake Charles; seven grandchildren; and five great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Amy Fontenot; a son, Jonathon Joseph Perron Fontenot; and eight siblings.
A graveside service will be held at 11:30 AM on Tuesday, August 28, 2018 in Evangeline Memorial Park in Ville Platte. Visitation will begin on Monday at Johnson Funeral Home, Lake Charles, from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM with a rosary being recited at 6:00 PM.
