It is with heavy hearts that the family of Dewitt Arnold Perry announce his passing away was December 24, 2013. He was commonly known as either D.A., or Perry. D.A., 79, was born August 31, 1934. Although he was born in Mississippi, Dewitt called Louisiana home for most of his adult life. He worked for a brief time with his father in the pulp wood business, before joining the Navy. D.A. expressed an interest in learning to dance after leaving the military. He recently shared the story of buying a book of four tickets at the local Arthur Murray dance studio back home. Four lessons would certainly give him the basics. The owners of the studio were impressed and promised to teach him additional types of dance on the condition he remain as an instructor. D.A. went on to manage a studio in northern Louisiana. He became part of the local business community, when he relocated to Lake Charles to manage Milford Furniture, and later the landmark furniture store known as Hemingway's. His later work years were spent as a land man for both the cable and the oil and gas industries. D.A. is preceded in death by the love of his life, his loving wife of forty-four years, Claudia Mitchell Perry; his mother Bessie Perry; step-mother, Clinnie Perry and father, William Aaron Perry; his brother, Preston Devon Perry; nephew, Joshua Sky David; loving mother-in-law, Ruth Mitchell Nagel and brother-in-law, Mark L. Mitchell, Sr. He is survived by, his siblings, Charlie B. Perry (Nancy), Annette Trigg (Glenn); loving nieces, Charlene, Dawn and Iris; nephew, Charlie Brice Perry and other nieces and nephews. Mitchell, Jr. The family is honoring D.A.'s wishes to be cremated without services. It was his wish to have his cremated remains be along side those of his precious wife, Claudia and his beloved dog, Pia.
