Diana Reichard Gentry

Diana Lynn Reichard Gentry, 71, of Lake Charles, LA, passed away at 12:09 PM on Thursday, August 11, 2022 in a local hospital.

Ms. Gentry was born April 24, 1951 in Stockton, KS.  She graduated from Notre Dame High School in Crowley, LA and studied nursing at Northern Oklahoma College.  Throughout her life, she has lived in Kansas, Lake Charles and California and recently moved back to Lake Charles to be closer to family.  She worked a number of years as a registered nurse for Mule Creek State Prison in Ione, CA, retiring in 2017.  She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of the Latter-Day Saints.  Ms. Gentry collected eagles, enjoyed cooking and canning, especially at Christmas time and loved to fish and spend time on the water.

Ms. Gentry is survived by her son, Johnny Wayne Reichard (Cheryl); daughter, Melissa “Missy” Gonzalez (Julio); son-at-heart, Gladu Granger; daughter-at-heart, Barbara Reichard; grandchildren, Alex Granger, Brandon Granger, Mallory Reichard, Rebecca Popillion, and Victor Gonzalez; grandchildren-at-heart, German Gonzalez and Laila Harrell; great-grandchildren, Wayne, Hope, Jasper, Ava, Myah, Mataya, Trinti, Popppi, Lailah, Jace, Zander and Zane; her beloved fur babies, Sissy, Chloe, and Amy; and large extended family in Kansas and California.

She was preceded in death by her parents, William and Alta Potts Reichard; and grandson, Steven Reichard.

Her funeral service will be held at 10:00 AM on Wednesday, August 17, 2022 at Johnson Funeral Home.  Burial will follow in Prien Memorial Park.  Visitation will be at the funeral home on Tuesday from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM and continue on Wednesday from 9:00 AM until the start of the service.
