Dina Ruth Aguillard Phillips, 79, of Lake Charles, LA died Monday, February 1, 2016 in her residence.
It is with great sorrow, that our family announces the passing of our mother and grandmother Dina Ruth Aguillard Phillips. She was born on July 1st 1936 in Mowata , LA and lived most of her life in Lake Charles, LA. Mrs. Phillips was a woman of faith and was active in her church. She was a lay minister at St. Margaret of Scotland Catholic Church for many years and was a member of the Catholic daughters. Mrs. Phillips was also a past member of the Ladies of Sahara and was active in the Habibi Shrine Temple with her late husband Clarence E. Phillips, Sr. She was a member of the 12th Night Revelers Mardi Gras Krewe. She was a loving and caring mother and grandparent and she was firm in her beliefs. Dina will be remembered for a no nonsense view of life and the world. She loved to read the newspaper, cook, do crossword puzzles, sew, and spend time with the family. Everyone will miss her homemade dishes, especially her roast and salmon patties.
She is preceded in death by her late husband Clarence E. Phillips, Sr., mother, Clara Aguillard Carlson; daughter, Carolyn Marie Phillips; son-in-law, Brian Cole Hebert; and son-in-law George Khoury.
Those left to cherish her memory are three daughters, Charlene Dollar Khoury, Maleah Dollar Hebert, Maude Elizabeth (Phillips) Hagar (Ronnie); two sons Clarence E. Phillips, Jr. (Terry) and David P. Phillips (Kala); six grandchildren, Leah Hebert Wimberly (Freddy), Brian Hebert, Jr., Sarah Hagar, Natalie Phillips, Connor Phillips, and Hannah Phillips; and three great grandchildren, Bailey Wimberly, Maleah Hebert, and Briana Wimberly.
A funeral Mass will be held at St. Margaret’s Catholic Church at 11:00 AM Thursday, February 4, 2016. Father Jay Alexius will officiate. Visitation will be at Johnson Funeral Home from 4:00 PM to 9:00 PM Wednesday, February 3, 2016 with a rosary held at 6:00PM. Visitation will resume from 8:00 AM until 10:30 AM Thursday, February 4, 2016 at Johnson Funeral Home. Burial will be at Consolata Cemetery.
