Dixie Cowan Edwards

Dixie Cowan Edwards, 84, of Lake Charles, passed away suddenly on Friday February 12, 2021 at a local hospital.

Dixie was a native of Jasper County, Mo and longtime resident of Lake Charles. Dixie relocated to Lake Charles with her late husband, Donald. Together they established their home and raised their family in Lake Charles. She was an avid reader and enjoyed collecting. Dixie was of the Christian faith and her greatest joy and accomplishment was caring for and teaching children of all ages the love of The Lord Jesus Christ.  

Preceding Dixie in death are her parents, Hebert and Naamah Ellis Cowan; brother, Dewayne Cowan; sister, Virginia Cowan Payne; her beloved husband Donald and infant son, Terry Wayne Edwards.  Those left to cherish her memories two sons, Randy Edwards (Lindy), Lake Charles and Greg Edwards (Gina), Hazel Green, AL; four grandchildren, Jake Edwards (Monica), Sarah Hannum (Jonathan), Hannah Berryhill (Brandon) and Charis Edwards; six great grandchildren, Jamie, Emmy and Lila Edwards; Grayson and Peyton Hannum; and Abel Berryhill.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Johnson Funeral Home. The family will have a private memorial service at a later date.
