Dixie Lee Leitner

January 4, 1949 — July 25, 2018

“May the work I’ve done speak for me”

Dixie Lee Leitner, 69, of Lake Charles died Wednesday, July 25, 2018 in Galveston, TX.

Miss Leitner was born in Wichita Falls, TX and has lived most of her life in Florida and Lake Charles. She was a graduate of Dunnellon High School in Florida. She retired as an operator with twenty nine years of service to Citgo Petroleum. She was unique in her great love of humanity, her gift of truly loving all as one and her overwhelming desire to feed and care for the homeless. Dixie served countless meals to the homeless, those in need and would go to great lengths to help those who weren’t so easily accessible. She also found much pride in checking off her bucket list her recent skydiving adventure. Miss Leitner enjoyed the nature of the outdoors, traveling and nothing more than a good meal. She will be most remembered for her love of humanity, animals and Blue Belle ice cream “love” being an understatement! She was a member of Church of The King of Lake Charles.

She leaves to cherish her memory, one sister, Judy Baker and husband Tommy of Ocala, FL; niece, Debbie Messer of Canton, GA; nephew, Joe Pierce and wife Vickie of Clermont, FL; her best friend, Nancy Doiron of Westlake; dear friend, Mary Hohman of Magnolia, TX; uncle, Jim Williams and wife Wannetta; aunt, Joyce Esch; many cousins and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Clyde and Claudine William Leitner and a nephew, Jeff Pierce.

A celebration of life gathering in Dixie’s honor will be held at 1:00 PM Saturday, August 11, 2018 at the Prien Lake Park Pavilion.

Memorial donations may be made to any homeless shelter, Salvation Army or Abraham’s Tent. Dixie would often leave a $5.00 bill in the Bible of hotel rooms for those who would turn to it during their stay; she would love to know that you may think of her when doing the same.

“There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither bond nor free, there is neither male nor female: for ye are all one in Christ Jesus” Galatians 3:28
