Dolores Ann Dilks

Dolores Ann Dilks, 89, of Lake Charles, LA, died at 1:59 PM on Sunday, October 20, 2019 in a local hospital.

Mrs. Dilks was born on July 9, 1930.  A native of New Jersey, she married Lawrence Stacy Dilks, Jr. on April 15, 1950.  The couple had two children, Lawrence and Kathleen, and she moved with her husband during his career in the U.S. Navy and Air Force, moving the family to Gibraltar, Africa, New York State, Wyoming and Missouri.

As her husband Lawrence pursued further education and working in civilian life, so did Mrs. Dilks.  She worked as an administrative assistant to an administrator at Lindenwood College and to executives at Borden Dairy Company in Columbus, OH.  She earned an associate degree and fell only a few classes short of a bachelor’s degree in business.  The Dilks’ moved to Lake Charles in 1994, where Mrs. Dilks spent many hours creating rosaries for Our Lady of Good Counsel Parish.  She was also active in the Model A Antique Car Club in Lake Charles with her husband.

She has many wonderful friends she leaves.  Mrs. Dilks is also survived by her daughter, Kathleen A. Barnett and husband Gregory; son, Dr. Lawrence Stacy Dilks, III and wife Dr. Tari Dilks; sisters, Eleanor and Clare; seven grandchildren; and ten great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband of sixty-nine years, Lawrence Stacy Dilks, Jr.; parents, Englebert and Anna Ammann; and five siblings.

Visitation will be at Johnson Funeral Home on Wednesday from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM with a rosary at 6:00 PM.  Her memorial service will be at 1:00 PM on Thursday, October 24, 2019 at Our Lady of Good Counsel Catholic Church.  Monsignor Jace Eskind will officiate.  A Graveside service at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery in Saint Louis, MO will be held at 11:15 AM on Monday, October 28, 2019.
