Dominick Bertrand

Dominick Bertrand, Jr., of Sulphur, passed away peacefully at his home on Thursday November 25, 2021, surrounded by his family.

Dominick was a native of Iowa and longtime resident of the Lake Charles Area. Following high school, Dominick honorably and faithfully served our country in the United States Navy from 1967-1970. He served three tours of duty in the Vietnam War. After his duty to our country, Dominick served the citizens of Lake Charles with the Lake Charles Police Department as a police officer from 1970-1977. After serving 38 years as a Security Specialist at CITGO, he retired in 2015.

While Dominick enjoyed working in his yard, fishing (even making his own lures), camping and riding his motorcycle, his greatest joy was spoiling his wife, children and grandchildren with affection and love.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Don Dominick and Linda Marie LeBert Bertrand and brother, Jimmie Bertrand. He leaves to honor and cherish his memories his beloved wife of 53 years, Penny Fontenot Bertrand, Sulphur; son, Don C. Bertrand and wife Heidi, Sulphur; daughter, Theresa Ann Cantu and husband Larry, Boerne, Texas; grandchildren, Seth Bertrand, Zachary Cantu and Emilie Cantu; brothers, Ward Bertrand, and Phillip Bertrand, both of Sulphur; Adam Bertrand, Lake Charles; sister, Linda Marie Perkins and husband James, Moss Bluff; and sister-in-law, Jenny Bertrand, Sulphur; four legged partner in crime, Alise; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and family of the heart.

Visitation will be at Johnson Funeral Home of Moss Bluff beginning at 10:00 AM on Monday, November 29. 2021 and will conclude with a funeral service at the Funeral Home at 1:00 PM. Father Aubrey Guilbeau will officiate services. Burial, with full Navy Honors, will follow at Liberty Cemetery in Elton.
