Donald A. "Bugs" Bredehoeft passed away November 30, 2010 in Baytown, Texas.
Mr. Bredehoeft was born in Heavener, Oklahoma and had lived in the Lake Charles and DeQuincy, Louisiana areas for over seventy years. He retired from Grace Davison Chemical Company as a Certified Purchasing Agent after thirty years of service. Mr. Bredehoeft served as a Tech Sergeant in England and France with the U. S. Air Force during World War II. As a member of the 476th Air Services Group he participated in the battles of Northern France, Rhineland, and the Ardennes Forrest. Mr. Bredehoeft was an avid sports fan who loved baseball, football, basketball and track. He was among the first organizers of Little League Baseball in DeQuincy. He was a member of American Legion Post #183 and during his tenure as the Post's Athletic Chairman was responsible for building the first softball park with lights on the west side of town. He was a board member of the McNeese State University Cowboy Club and a charter member of the McNeese Society for the Advancement of Management.
On February 14, 1942 "Bugs" married Alice "Dudie" Young of Sugartown, Louisiana. They settled and started a family in DeQuincy and later moved to Lake Charles. She remained the love of his life until her passing in March of 1978.
He is survived by sons Ken Bredehoeft and wife Kathleen of Mont Belvieu, Texas; Don Bredehoeft and wife Rita of Oregon City, Oregon; granddaughter Karen McCarley and husband Troy of Seabrook, Texas; grandsons Donald Wayne Bredehoeft and wife Emily of Oregon City, Oregon and Ryan Bredehoeft of Portland, Oregon; great-grandsons Mason and Bryce McCarley of Seabrook, Texas and Donald Wayne Bredehoeft III of Oregon City, Oregon.
His funeral will be at 10:00 AM, Friday, December 3, 2010 in the Johnson Funeral Home Chapel. Reverend Greg Bath will officiate. Burial will be in Perkins Cemetery in DeQuincy. Visitation will be from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM, Thursday, and continue from 9:00 AM until time of service, Friday, in the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to Trinity Baptist Church, Library/Media Center or the Louisiana Baptist Children's Home.
