It is with great sadness that the family of Donald Lee Ballance, Sr. announces his passing on Saturday, September 14, 2024, at the age of 78.
Donald L. Ballance, Sr., a man whose presence filled the lives of so many with love, laughter, and joy was born on January 7, 1946, in Port Arthur, Texas, to Basil L. Ballance and Lucille Moreau Ballance.
Donald proudly served his country in the United States Navy during the Vietnam War and was a member of VFW Post 2730. A natural tinkerer, Donald had a passion for fixing and repurposing things, from machinery to creating special items for his family, like a restored wooden highchair for his great-granddaughter. A man of simple joys, he loved his morning coffee at KD’s with friends or on his patio watching the squirrels and birds while savoring the peacefulness of nature.
Donald will be remembered most for his heart, his spirit of kindness, generosity, and his constant ability to bring joy to others. His laughter, his smile, and his sense of humor brought light to those around him, and he always ensured that his family and loved ones were cared for. He adored both his children and grandchildren and cherished every moment spent with them. He was a man who deeply understood the importance of family, instilling values that will last a lifetime.
Donald is survived by his loving children: Donna LaSalle (Matthew), Christopher Ballance, Lynette Abel (Steve), Donald L. Ballance, Jr. (Angel), Mike Ballance (Lysette), David Ballance, Kayce Pisani (Cody) and Timothy Ballance (Angela). He also leaves behind nineteen grandchildren, numerous great-grandchildren, and his brothers, Bobby Ballance and Eugene Ballance (Ethel), as well as sisters, Patsy Fawe and Betina Atkinson (Brian). He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Frank and Warren, and his granddaughters, Cherie and Erin.
As we say our final goodbyes, we hold close the memories of Donald’s laughter, his love, and his unwavering presence in our lives. He leaves behind a legacy of love, family, and service, and he will be dearly missed by all who knew him.
