Donald Charles Mcadon

Donald Charles McAdon, 76, died Friday, September 9, 2016, with his family at his side.

 

Born in Davenport, Iowa on November 21, 1939 to Charles Donald and Mary Agnes Jones McAdon, Mr. McAdon graduated Castle Heights Military Academy in Lebanon, Tennessee and served in the U. S. Army, stationed in England, Vietnam and other assigned areas.  He was Chief of Police in Smyrna, Tennessee.  He served as Deputy Constable in Harris County Constable’s Office in Houston, Texas, as a Civil Defense policeman, and as a deputy for the Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office from 1986 until 1993.  Law enforcement was his passion, although he also worked as a long distance truck driver and as a senior instrument technician in the petro chemical industry.  He was a member of the IBEW.

 

Mr. McAdon is survived by his son, Charles D. McAdon, II of Moss Bluff; two daughters, Mary M. Richardson and husband Ralph of Woodbury, Tennessee and Teresa M. Wilson and husband Dan of Gaylesville, AL; one sister, Anne Hayes and husband James of Spring Branch, Texas; two granddaughters, KristiAnn Richardson and Amber Waycaster; one grandson, Brandon Richardson; the mother of his son, Ellen Mary McAdon of Sulphur; and the mother of his daughters, Nancy McAdon of Murfreesboro, Tennessee; numerous nieces and nephews, including Ruth Ann Naughton and Mary K. Alberts; as well as many members of extended family. 

 

He was preceded in death by his parents and two granddaughters, Candace Richardson and Brittany Waycaster.

 

Memorial services will be held at 4:00 PM on Monday September 12, 2016 at the Episcopal Church of the Good Shepherd under the direction of Johnson Funeral Home.  The Reverends Jack Myers and Frances “Boo” Kay will officiate.  Inurnment will be in the Resurrection Chapel of the Episcopal Church of the Good Shepherd.  Visitation will be at the church on Monday from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM.

The family would like to express their grateful appreciation for the compassionate care given Don to the memory unit staff of Lake Charles Care Center, especially Katina, Miakita and Jeff;  the nurses and staff at Lake Charles Memorial Hospital and Drs. M. Kahn, Ron Lewis and Clifford Courville.
