Donald "Cosmo" Comeaux, Sr.

Donald James “Cosmo” Comeaux, Sr., 78, died at 8:58 PM on Wednesday, December 28, 2022 in a Lafayette hospital.

Mr. Comeaux was born January 12, 1944 in Bell City, LA, where he was raised.  He lived a number of years in the Lake Charles / Moss Bluff areas before moving to Ragley in 1974.  He was the owner and operator of Cosmo’s Repair and Diesel Services from 1979-1983 and later worked as a diesel mechanic for Steven’s Truck Line.  He was an active member of Magnolia Baptist Church in Ragley.  Mr. Comeaux enjoyed spending time outdoors and rebuilding engines in his free time.  During his younger years, he enjoyed deer hunting and gardening, and always loved to spend time with his family.  He also had a big heart and was always there to help others.

Mr. Comeaux is survived by his sons, Donald J. “Junior” Comeaux, Jr., Douglas J. Comeaux, Willis “T-Boy” Comeaux, all of Ragley, LA, Gregory Paul Comeaux of Evans, CO, and Johnathan Michael Comeaux (Kelly) of DeRidder, LA; brothers, Rodney P. Comeaux of Iowa, LA, Daniel Comeaux of Youngsville, LA, and Herbert Comeaux of Welsh, LA; sisters, Shirley Miller of Lake Charles, Brenda Gail Vanicor of Lacassine, Kathleen Geiger (Richard) of Branson, MO, and Jacinta Comeaux (Michael) of Abbeville, LA; twelve grandchildren; and seventeen great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife of forty-nine years, Rose Ann Comeaux; daughter, Roseanne Lynn Charron; infant son, David Michael Comeaux; parents, Milton and Thelma Istre Comeaux; and sisters, Deanna Felice, Nell Jean Reed, and Ruth Ann Fontenot.

His funeral service will be held at 10:00 AM on Tuesday, January 3, 2023 at Johnson Funeral Home.  Rev. David Free will officiate.  Burial will follow in Highland Memory Gardens Cemetery.  Visitation will be at the funeral home on Monday from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM and continue on Tuesday from 8:30 AM until the start of the service.
