Donald Eugene Hansen

Donald Eugene Hansen, 82, of Lake Charles passed away on Thursday, August 13, 2015 in a local care facility. Mr. Hansen was born on February 27, 1933 in Tuscola, IL and was a graduate of Petersburg Harris High School. He then joined the US Navy where he was a radio operator for submarines. Upon being discharged he was a radio announcer primarily in New York and Connecticut and then began working in real estate for Boyer Agency before working at New London Federal Bank. His most recent employment was at General Dynamics Electric Boat as a planner. He moved to New Bern, NC where he was a tour guide at Tryon Palace. Mr. Hansen moved to Lake Charles in 2013 with his son and his daughter-in-law. He was a member of the Rotary Club and enjoyed operating the Ham Radio. Those left to cherish his memory are a son, Chris Hansen of Moss Bluff; a daughter, Karen Rhoades of Uncasville, CT; two grandchildren, Katie Carignan and Chuck Vieaux; and five great grandchildren, Kathryn and Richard Vieaux and Briseis, Domanick, and Xavier Carignan. He also leaves behind his second wife, Barbara Hansen of New Bern, NC. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Catherine Hansen; his parents, Ruth and Frank Hansen; and a half brother, Carl Frye. A memorial service will be held at 1:00 PM on Monday, August 17, 2015 at New Life Worship Center in Moss Bluff. Cremation was entrusted to Johnson Funeral Home.
