Donald E. "Don" Peacock, 79, of Sulphur, LA passed away Sunday, March 01, 2015 in a local healthcare facility. Mr. Peacock was born in Jonesboro, LA, raised in Jonesboro and Lake Charles and has lived most of his life in the Lafayette and Lake Charles area. He was a graduate of Lake Charles High School and McNeese State University where he attained a Bachelor Degree in Business. He played football for McNeese, served in the R.O.T.C. program and was amongst the President's Honor Roll. Mr. Peacock worked his younger years throughout Southwest Louisiana and Southeast Texas as a Manager for Kroger. He then began his career of over twenty years in the insurance industry, primarily as Manager of Prudential Insurance, where he later retired. He was a member of the Kiwanis, Optimist and Lions Club. Mr. Peacock enjoyed bowling with a league, softball, basketball and came to love watching his children play. He loved golfing and also loved many years of playing and teaching friends and family poker, particularly his grandkids. His greatest love was his family, a devoted husband, father and grandfather. He found great pride in following his children to countless school functions, sporting events, dance performances and beauty pageants, sometimes as "Mom" while she was working. Mr. Peacock will be most remembered for his kind heart, sense of humor and ability to make others laugh. He leaves to cherish his memory, his loving wife of fifty-five years, Sandra "Sandy" Melancon Peacock of Sulphur; four children, Melanie Broussard and fiancé Brian Veillon of Lake Charles, James E. Peacock and wife Tami of McKinney, TX, Kevin B. Peacock and wife Karen of Bangkok, Thailand and Kristi Roya and husband Eddie of San Antonio, TX; twelve grandchildren, Garrett Douglas and wife Kacie, Quentin Douglas, Cameron Broussard, Gavin Broussard, James Peacock, Jr., Eric Peacock, Addison Peacock, Kristyn Peacock, Kyle Peacock, Kaylee Peacock, Brianne Roya and Edward "Jed" Roya and one great-grandchild on the way, Benjamin Paul Douglas. He was preceded in death by one grandson, Judson Wade Peacock and his parents, Lafayette and Minnie Thomas Peacock. Funeral services will be at 11:00 Wednesday, March 04, 2015 in the Johnson Funeral Home Chapel. Father John Hughes will officiate. Interment services will follow in LeBleu Cemetery in Fenton, LA. Visitation Tuesday will be from 2:00 PM until 9:00 PM with a rosary beginning at 6:00 PM. Visitation Wednesday will be from 8:00 AM until the time of service in the funeral home.
