Donald Lee Liby, 83, of Vinton died Friday, December 30, 2017 in the comfort of his home.
Mr. Liby was born in Galesburg, IL and lived most of his life in Los Angeles, CA and Vinton, LA. He worked primarily as a Tanker man in Barge transportation and also brightened everyone’s day working as a crossing guard in Vinton. During his younger years, he enjoyed traveling, camping and fishing. Mr. Liby will be most remembered for his sense of humor and his ability to make people laugh and smile. He was a member of F&AM Masonic Lodge #364 in Vinton.
He leaves to honor his memory, five children, Mona Nemes (Avi) of Upland, CA, Donald Lee Liby, Jr., Dolores Breaux and Marlene Corner, all of Vinton and Melinda Carney of Sulphur; twenty grandchildren, many great-grandchildren and many great-great grandchildren; one brother, Michael Liby (Warren) of Gainesville, FL; two sisters, Linda Noyd (Michael) Cambridge, IL and Nancy Dufur (Jerry) of Rapid City, IL and a dear friend, Nelry Guidry of Vinton.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Dorothy Morrisey Liby; one son, Dale Liby and one brother, Jim Liby.
Memorial services will be at 10:00 AM Saturday, January 13, 2018 at First Baptist Church in Vinton. Reverend Bobby Daniel will officiate. Family and friends will gather prior to the service.
