Donald Murphy Almany

Donald Murphy Almany, 84, of Lake Charles passed from this life on Tuesday, May 23, 2023, with his wife and caregiver by his side.

Don was born on June 21, 1938, in DeRidder, LA, to James and Floy Almany.  He served his country proudly as a member of the Army National Guard and worked for PPG as an inventory clerk for over 40 years. Don was a faithful member of Sale Street Baptist Church and enjoyed fishing & watching NASCAR racing.

Those left to cherish his memory are his wife, Doris Averitt Almany of Lake Charles; three daughters, Sandra Kay Ciccotelli of Lake Charles, Donna Marie Almany of Crest Hill, IL, Melody Ann Doucet & her husband Barry of Lake Charles; step sons, Ray Cook and William Kevin Woods; three sisters, Jacqueline Stone, Pam Marsh, and Beverly Plumlee; 8 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by his first wife and the mother of his children, Janice Clare Almany, and son, Terry Duane Almany.

A time of gathering for family and friends will be from 9:00 AM to 10:00 AM on Friday, May 26, 2023, at Johnson Funeral Home, 4321 Lake St., Lake Charles, LA 70605. Funeral services will begin Friday at 10:00 AM at the funeral home with burial at LeBlanc Cemetery in LeBlanc, LA at noon.
