Donald Ray "Don" Gaspard

Donald Ray “Don” Gaspard, 82 years old, passed away Saturday, April 16, 2022, in a local hospital. He was born on January 13, 1940, to Lou Vernon and Mabel Landry Gaspard in Lake Charles, LA.

He was an insurance claims adjuster and worked for Prudential in Baton Rouge and later Littleton Claims Service in Lake Charles. He loved woodworking and watching Gunsmoke, Yellowstone, but more than anything he loved and cherished his family and friends. He was the kind of father that thanked you everyday for anything you did for him and told you that he loved you every chance he got.

Those left to cherish his memory are, his two sons, Donnie Gaspard and Darren Gaspard, and his daughter Dena Raftery, and her husband Roy Raftery and his stepdaughter Tara Landry Hodges. He leaves behind his beloved grandchildren Tara Wainwright, Lacey Gaspard, Madeline Gaspard, and Megan Raftery, along with three great grandchildren. 

Don was preceded in death by his parents, his son Damon Gaspard, and his beloved Sharon.

His funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM on Wednesday, April 20, 2022, in the Johnson Funeral Home Chapel.  Rob McCorquodale will officiate.  Burial will follow in Consolata Cemetery under the direction of Johnson Funeral Home.  Visitation will be at the funeral home on Tuesday, April 19, 2022, from 4:00 PM until 7:00 PM with a rosary being recited at 6:00 PM and will continue on Wednesday from 1:00 PM until the start of the service.
