Donald Ray DuBose, 76, died Thursday, June 16, 2016 at Grand Cove Nursing Home, surrounded by his loving family.
Mr. DuBose was born to Clarence and Edna Coleman DuBose in Sulphur, Louisiana. He was a graduate of Jennings High School and attended McNeese State University. He served in the National Guard for ten years. He was the previous owner of American Security Services and spent many years as a private guard. He retired from Sasol in 1997 after twenty-nine years of service.
Mr. DuBose loved rodeos, especially bull riding, and rounded up his children for many a rodeo. He was a Scoutmaster for Troop 150 in Sulphur for many years. His hobbies were hunting, fishing, and football. He loved his dogs and lit up when talking about them.
Those left to treasure his memory are his four daughters, Jackie Taylor and husband Jerry (J.T.) of Grand Lake, LA Cheryl Dubose and husband Kerry Pitts of Houston, Debbie McElhannon and husband Sean of Vinton, LA and Trina DuBose of Nashville, TN; two stepsons, Michael Gragg and wife Suzanne of New Iberia, LA and John Gragg and wife Josie of Houston, TX; one sister, Barbara Courville and husband Clifford of Jennings, LA; brother-in-law Jerry Petross and wife Beverly of Lake Charles, LA; and sister-in-law, Betty Petross Hubble of Tulsa, Ok; fifteen grandchildren; and eight great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents and second wife, Shyrol Petross DuBose.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. on Saturday, June 18, 2016 at Johnson Funeral Home. Reverend Don Duplechin will officiate. Interment will be at Big Woods Cemetery. Visitation at the funeral home will be on Saturday from 10 a.m. until service time.
The family would like to express their grateful appreciation for the compassionate care given their father by the staff at Grand Cove Nursing Home and Brighton Bridge Hospice and Dr. Langhoffer.
