After battling Pneumonia, Don passed away on Tuesday afternoon at a local hospital.
Don was a wonderful family man. He loved hosting family parties at his poolside, grilling and playing his favorite music. He loved walking his dogs and visiting with his wonderful neighbors. “The Mayor” of his street was his tittle; Don never met a stranger and had jokes for every occasion. He was an avid sportsman and enjoyed softball, golf, and West Monroe football.
Those left to cherish his memories include his daughter, Amy Burnham (John); three grandchildren, that were the light of his life, Jamy (fiancé Charles), Andrew “A.J.” and Blake Burnham; brother, David Johnston (Glenda); numerous nieces and nephews; and so many friends that enjoyed his company.
Don was preceded in death by his wife of fifty-five years, Judy, who passed away just hours before him; son, Andrew “Andy”; and his parents, David and Edna Johnston.
“I’m the kind of man that likes to get away.
Like to start dreaming about tomorrow today. Heard it in a love song…..can’t be wrong.”
His cremation was entrusted to Johnson Funeral Home.
