Don Richard, Sr., 80, of Sulphur passed away Thursday, December 16, 2010 at his residence surrounded by his loved ones. A Mass of Christian burial will be held at Our Lady of LaSalette Catholic Church at 9:30 am Monday, December 20, 2010. Mr. Richard was a graduate of Sulphur High School. He served in the U. S. Navy during the Korean Conflict from 1948-1952 aboard the USS Bausell DD845. He retired from Dupont, in Orange, Texas after 32 years of service and later from Chemical Waste Management after 10 years of service. Don loved to fish, quail hunt, and most of all he loved his music and playing his guitar with all of his guitar picking friends. He is preceded in death by his parents: Albert Richard and Gladys DuBose. He leaves to cherish his memory his wife of 24 years, Judy Richard of Sulphur; 1 son: Donald Richard, Jr. and wife Anja of Carlyss; 4 daughters: Donna Carrier and husband Jimmy of Baton Rouge, Judy Arnold and husband Gary of Westlake, Holly Romine and husband Guy of Port Neches, Texas, and Lisa Langley and husband Randy of Sulphur; 4 step-daughters: Jackie Berry of Grand Lake, Cheryl DuBose of Houston, Texas, Debbie McElhannon and husband Sean of Vinton, and Trina DuBose of Tucker, Georgia; 21 grandchildren; 8 great grandchildren; and a host of friends will mourn his passing. He also leaves behind his best 4-legged friend Chica. The family would like to give a special thanks to Kristi Mericle and the staff of Odyssey Hospice for their care and love for Mr. Don during his illness.
