Donald Wayne Leonard, 59, of Lake Charles, LA died on Tuesday, February 22, 2011 in his residence.


Mr. Leonard was born December 2, 1951 in Jennings, LA, raised in the Hayes area, and has lived in Lake Charles for the past twenty-five years. He was a 1971 graduate of Bell City High School. He worked for a number of years as a driller for Neighbor's Oil Company and worked as a truck driver for Poole Trucking. Mr. Leonard was a member of Our Lady Queen of Heaven Catholic Church, where he was a bereavement minister and a Eucharistic minister. He was also a member of Monsignor Irving DeBlanc's Knights of Columbus and Monsignor Cramer's 4th Degree Knights of Columbus. He enjoyed cooking and loved listening to Cajun music, even serving on the Board for the CFMA.


Mr. Leonard is survived by his children, Cory Wayne Leonard and wife Jamie of Welsh, LA, Christina " Sissy" Leonard of Welsh, LA, Kayla Leonard of Ragley, and Kimberly Leonard of Abbeville, LA; father, Ewell Leonard of Lake Charles; brother, Daniel Leonard of Hayes, LA; sisters, Regina LeJeune and Shirley Jeanise, both of Lake Charles; and nine grandchildren.


He was preceded in death by his wife, Janet Daigle Leonard; mother, Edwina Leonard, and his sister Charlotte Broussard.


His funeral service will be at 2:00 PM on Friday, February 25, 2011 at Our Lady Queen of Heaven Catholic Church. Father Nathan Long will officiate. Burial will follow in Consolata Cemetery. Visitation will be at Johnson Funeral Home on Thursday from 4:00 PM to 10:00 PM with a Knights of Columbus Rosary at 6:00 PM. Visitation will continue at the funeral home on Friday from 8:00 AM to 1:40 PM.
